Welcome to the North Shore Municipality Web Site

Municiple Elections

Municipal elections take place on Prince Edward Island every four years on the first Monday of November. The North Shore election is held in the form of a public meeting with the chair and four candidates elected for each of the three wards. The wards represent the former school districts of Covehead Road, West Covehead, and Stanhope. Eligibility to vote is set by the Municipalities Act:

47. (1) The qualifications for an elector are that the elector is

(a) not less than eighteen years of age;
(b) a Canadian citizen; and
(c) resident in the municipality for a period of six months preceding
the date of the election.
(2) Only qualified electors may vote in municipal elections.

If you are eligible and interested in serving on Council please do not
hesitate to make yourself known at the election meeting when nominations
will be taken from the floor.
